Alex Blair focuses his practice on toxic tort and complex commercial litigation. He has extensive litigation experience, including preparing pleadings and dispositive motions, conducting written and oral discovery, as well as representing clients in court.

He defends clients in federal court for the Northern District of Illinois, as well as Cook, DuPage, Will, McHenry and Kane Counties.

Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, he worked as an associate attorney at an insurance litigation firm in Chicago. He also practiced as a fellowship attorney at the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic in Chicago, where he helped domestic violence survivors obtain orders of protection.

Alex earned his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School, where he was secretary of the Student Bar Association and participated in the Intensive Trial Advocacy Program. He earned the H. King Williams Memorial Award for significant contributions to building community at the law school and the Conrad Kellenberg Award for dedication of substantial time to betterment of the community through service.

A native of Houston, Alex holds a B.A. in journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. He was a sportswriter prior to attending law school and is involved in the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Notre Dame Club of Chicago.

Outside of work, he enjoys home repair, pasture golf, 16-inch softball, genealogy, barbecue, camping and volunteering at Mission of Our Lady of the Angels in Chicago’s West Humboldt Park neighborhood.
