John Getz is a litigation attorney focused on defending general litigation cases, including premises liability. He is adept at handling all aspects of defense, including depositions, motion drafting, and appearances at court conferences and arbitrations. Known for his meticulous preparation and comprehensive understanding of insurance defense, John provides clients with effective and efficient legal solutions.

Before joining Segal McCambridge, John worked with several New York law firms, representing defendants in various areas, including motor vehicle cases, environmental torts, and cases involving New York State Labor Law. His background includes work with property owners and municipal entities, with extensive experience in negotiation, settlement drafting, and client communication. Earlier in his career, John interned for the Honorable Robert J. Gigante at Richmond County Surrogate’s Court, as well as both the Kings County District Attorney’s Office and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office in New Jersey.

John earned his J.D. from the Brooklyn Law School and an M.S. in environmental studies from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He holds a B.S. in meteorology from Cornell University. 

John lives in New York and enjoys traveling and outdoor activities.
