Marcelo Garcia concentrates his practice in the area of first party insurance defense litigation. He approaches each case with an eye toward effectively evaluating and managing risk throughout the litigation process.

Marcelo also has extensive experience in pre-suit evaluation, discovery, motion practice, legal research and analysis and dispute resolution strategy—all with the goal of presenting the best possible defense at trial.

Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, Marcelo was an associate at a well-regarded Texas insurance defense litigation firm where he focused on defending clients primarily in construction defect and personal injury matters. He also gained valuable experience in commercial litigation, professional liability, premises liability and homeowner association cases.

Marcelo earned his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law where he served as a staff writer and senior associate editor of the St. Mary’s Law Journal. While in law school, he served as a judicial intern for the Fourth Court of Appeals of Texas.

Marcelo holds a B.B.A. and M.S. in accounting from the University of the Incarnate Word.

Outside of work, Marcelo enjoys spending time with his wife, their two young sons and German Shepherd; exploring the outdoors, including snow skiing whenever possible; and cheering for the San Antonio Spurs.
