Jacob Baran concentrates his practice in first party insurance defense litigation. He has experience drafting and arguing non-dispositive and dispositive motions, conducting discovery, negotiating settlements, pre-trial preparations and at trial.

Prior to joining the firm, Jacob practiced with a boutique third-party insurance defense firm in St. Louis, Missouri where he represented a diverse range of clients including general contractors, subcontractors, professional engineers, design professionals and governmental entities. Jacob’s experience navigating and resolving multi-party lawsuits adds depth to his ability to assist clients effectively in a variety of legal matters.

Jacob earned his J.D., cum laude, from the Saint Louis University School of Law and his B.A. in philosophy from Texas A&M University. In law school, Jacob received the Dean’s Scholarship and served as a Note & Comment Editor and Staff Editor for the ABA Journal of Labor and Employment Law. He also worked as a legal intern for an organization providing civil and criminal legal representation to individuals throughout the St. Louis region.  

Jacob lives in Austin with his wife and their two rescue pets, Mosey and Reba.
