Kathleen Freeman is a seasoned civil litigator with extensive experience in trial practice and procedure and jury analytics. She has appeared in matters across state and federal jurisdictions nationwide with the purpose of achieving finality for her clients, whether it be through settlement negotiations or taking the case to verdict.

Kathleen’s clientele ranges from individual professionals to large entities which operate in the medical, legal, construction, and transportation sectors, with a heightened focus on high exposure and excess liability cases wherein the claimant alleges catastrophic loss, wrongful death, personal injury, and pecuniary harm.

Kathleen’s passion for legal advocacy is rooted in her volunteer work as a Rape Crisis Counselor and Children’s Assault Prevention Educator during her college years. She began honing her litigation skills immediately upon entering law school by simultaneously interning at the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office and the United State Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Michigan. Her constant exposure to the courtroom allowed Kathleen to develop a complex understanding and appreciation of the litigation process in both criminal and civil matters, including the critical nature of developing and implementing legal strategy in each stage of that process with steady and constant foresight on trial. Kathleen capitalized on this experience upon entering the legal profession and began appearing in jury trials in her first year of practice.

Kathleen manages matters from inception through resolution, including developing and implementing litigation strategy, preparing all pleadings and filings, conducting discovery, taking and defending lay and expert depositions, preparing and arguing motions, engaging in mediation and settlement negotiations, and taking a matter to jury or bench trial. She has specialized experience in preparing and presenting mock trials for the purpose of jury analytics, appearing in high exposure matters to take over the defense within 30 days of trial, and managing teams of attorneys enlisted to prepare matters for trial on short notice.

Kathleen is actively involved in the legal community through several national, state and local bar associations. Her professional involvement has included the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Indiana State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association Young Lawyers Section and Lake County Bar Association Young Lawyers Section. She was recognized by Influential Women of Northwest Indiana as a nominee for Up & Coming Woman in Law in 2016 and a finalist in 2017.

Kathleen obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame Law School.
