Mark Vásquez concentrates his practice on insurance defense litigation, handling cases involving personal injury protection (PIP), bodily injury and premises liability claims. He represents insurers in high-exposure matters and serves as first or second chair in civil trials. His litigation experience spans all phases of case management, including drafting dispositive motions, conducting and defending depositions, managing discovery and representing clients in hearings, arbitrations and case evaluations.
Prior to joining the firm, Mark practiced with the staff counsel office of a national insurance company, managing a significant docket of PIP, bodily injury and premises liability cases. His previous experience includes representing insurers and policyholders at multiple Michigan-based defense firms and serving as lead attorney for a plaintiffs’ personal injury practice. Earlier in his career, he served as a guardian ad litem in Oakland County Probate Court and provided pro bono representation to clients in domestic violence and family law matters.
In addition to his litigation experience, Mark has an extensive academic background. He earned a Ph.D. in English from Washington State University, where his dissertation, Authority and Reform: Patterns of Religious and Educational Discourse in the Literature of Nineteenth-Century New England, was published by the University of Tennessee Press. He has also authored several peer-reviewed articles and served as a visiting assistant professor at Michigan State University, teaching courses on law and justice in the U.S.
Mark earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law, where he received the Dean’s Award for Employee Benefit Plans and served as a legal writing tutor. He also holds a Ph.D. in English from Washington State University, where his dissertation, Authority and Reform: Patterns of Religious and Educational Discourse in the Literature of Nineteenth-Century New England, was published as a book by the University of Tennessee Press.
Mark lives in Oak Park, Michigan. He enjoys cooking and travel.
