Becky Hahn focuses her practice on complex litigation with substantial experience in post-conviction, appellate and trial-level matters. She has handled high-stakes cases involving resentencing, constitutional challenges and evidentiary development and is highly skilled in legal research, motion practice and strategic case planning. Becky regularly works in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments to develop mitigation evidence and advocate for favorable outcomes in contested proceedings.

In addition, Becky has extensive experience mentoring and supervising attorneys and law students and developing legal strategy in complex matters. Her background includes curriculum development, teaching and leading seminars on post-conviction advocacy and wrongful conviction issues, as well as fostering effective team collaboration and case management practices.

Prior to joining Segal McCambridge, Becky served as an Assistant Defender with the Office of the State Appellate Defender, where she managed complex post-conviction resentencing cases for juvenile clients eligible for relief under Miller v. Alabama and Montgomery v. Louisiana. She previously served as a Clinical Professor of Law at the University of Michigan Law School, where she drafted state and federal post-conviction pleadings, litigated new evidence claims and supervised law students investigating non-DNA evidence and witness recantations. Earlier in her career, Becky worked as an Assistant Public Defender in Cook County, managing a high-volume caseload of felony and misdemeanor matters and representing clients through all phases of criminal prosecution.

Becky earned her J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where she was a member of the University of Detroit Mercy Law Review and a Public Interest Fellow. She holds a B.A. from DePaul University.

Becky lives in Chicago with her husband and two children, and enjoys spending time with her family exploring everything the city has to offer.
