Segal McCambridge Announces Expansion with New Office in Lexington, Kentucky

Segal McCambridge is pleased to announce the opening of its new office in Lexington, Kentucky, marking the firm’s continued growth and expanding client base across the region. The Lexington office, located at 3499 Blazer Parkway, Suite 330, will be led by Shareholder Kimberly van der Heidien.

Van der Heiden concentrates her practice on workers’ compensation defense and general civil litigation, including premises liability, personal injury and product liability. With over 30 years of experience, she represents employers, insurers, and businesses in complex litigation and administrative proceedings, managing matters from initial claim evaluation through resolution.

“As our clients’ business footprints grow across Kentucky and the surrounding markets, it’s important that we’re positioned locally with the resources, experience, and responsiveness they expect from us,” said Jason P. Eckerly, Managing Shareholder of Segal McCambridge. “With Kim leading this office, we’re well-positioned to support clients with complex litigation needs and to do so with the speed and regional insight that make a difference in high-stakes matters.”

In addition to her legal experience, van der Heiden brings a unique background in healthcare, having previously worked as a registered nurse and clinical nurse manager at a major medical center. Her experience providing direct patient care in a trauma center, managing a neuroscience intensive care unit, and overseeing regulatory compliance and quality initiatives offers valuable insights into medical issues that arise in litigation, particularly in matters involving injury, causation, and damages.

Van der Heiden earned her J.D. from the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law and holds a B.S. in nursing from St. Catherine University. She is admitted to practice in Kentucky and Wyoming, as well as before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

“Our approach has always centered on relationships, responsiveness, and strong execution,” Eckerly added. “Adding the Lexington office to our firm’s map allows us to extend that approach into a new market while continuing to deliver consistent results for clients across the country.”

Companies facing high-stakes litigation and business challenges turn to Segal McCambridge for creative advice and trial experience. The firm will continue to expand its services with the opening of its Lexington office, becoming an active member of the Lexington community, and contributing to the area’s economic growth.
