Dan Butler focuses his practice on the defense of financial professionals, business managers, and attorneys.  He has experience handling all facets of complex professional responsibility and has successfully resolved numerous cases for private clients and insurance carriers.

In addition to his professional liability work, Dan has represented dozens of attorneys in New York and California in legal malpractice disputes, as well as high-profile business managers and CPAs in lawsuits initiated by public figures and celebrities. He frequently defends subpoenas issued to CPAs and business managers in the context of family law and civil litigation disputes, and has argued before New York’s First Department Court of Appeal.

Prior to joining the firm, Dan served as senior counsel at Chapman Glucksman, a full-service California litigation firm. He began his legal career in the asset forfeiture department of the Northern District of New York, then moved into private practice in Manhattan, where he spent six years with a firm focused on defending attorneys and other professionals. After relocating to Southern California in 2022, his practice continued to center on professional liability defense, while also expanding to include insurance coverage litigation and construction litigation.

A native New Yorker, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children, rooting for the Michigan Wolverines and playing golf when he can.
