John Richards focuses his practice on representing clients in complex civil litigation matters with a particular emphasis on asbestos defense, insurance defense and civil tort cases. With extensive experience handling a diverse portfolio of cases, John is adept at conducting depositions, managing discovery, and developing comprehensive case strategies. He has a proven track record of effectively communicating with clients and insurance carriers to ensure the best possible outcomes.
In addition, John’s litigation experience extends across various areas including motor vehicle negligence, premises liability and products liability. He has a keen ability to resolve cases through settlement, mandatory arbitration, and mediation, demonstrating his commitment to achieving favorable results for his clients.
Prior to joining the firm, John served as an associate for a Chicago litigation defense firm. He also previously served as an associate for a regional Illinois personal injury and workers’ compensation firm and as a law clerk for a plaintiff-only firm in Chicago.
John earned his J.D. from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law with a certificate in Transactional Law. While in law school, John participated in the Business Law Clinic and served as senior editor of the Consumer Law Review.
John holds a B.A. in economics from the University of Michigan.
John grew up in Connecticut and has lived in Chicago for the last 9 years. He loves dogs, playing golf, weekends in Lake Geneva and college football, particularly the 2024 National Championship winning Michigan Wolverines.
