Phillip J. Miller

Phil Miller focuses his practice on intellectual property and media litigation, as well as defending clients in complex civil matters involving sports, transportation, entertainment, recreation, and more. Whether it involves trademark and copyright disputes or other complex matters such as general liability defense, Phil manages all phases of the litigation, including conducting depositions, drafting and arguing dispositive motions, and appearing in court.

As a member of the firm’s Sports, Recreation, and Entertainment practice group, Phil has provided strategic intellectual property counseling to intellectual property and media clients. Additionally, he authors thought leadership on evolving intellectual property law and dedicates his pro bono efforts to supporting organizations such as Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. His diverse litigation background also includes defending institutional clients against complex civil liability claims, including catastrophic personal injury and defamation matters.

Before joining the firm, Phil served as an assistant district attorney in the Bronx, where he prosecuted criminal cases, litigated evidentiary hearings, and handled all phases of criminal investigations

Phil earned an LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, and he received his J.D. from the City University of New York School of Law, where he served as President of the Entertainment & Sports Law Society and as a staff editor of the CUNY Law Review. He holds a B.A., summa cum laude, in Corporate Communications from Baruch College.

Based in New York City, Phil enjoys playing pool and studying languages in his free time.
