Mackenzy Bean concentrates her practice in the areas of toxic tort, product liability, complex commercial litigation and class actions. She represents clients across a range of industries and regularly handles all stages of litigation, including drafting pleadings, taking depositions, conducting legal research and preparing settlement negotiations. Additionally, her background in civil litigation, cannabis law and plaintiff-side practice provide a well-rounded perspective to her clients.
Before joining the firm, Mackenzy was an associate at a boutique litigation firm in Chicago, where she worked on high-stakes commercial disputes and civil litigation and defended premise liability claims on behalf of a major insurance company. Her work included conducting discovery, drafting motions and advising an AI legal tech client on e-discovery product development. Prior to becoming an attorney, she served as a legal assistant at a large debt collection law firm, handling wage and bank garnishment.
Mackenzy earned her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. During her time in law school, Mackenzy was a law clerk at a plaintiff-side employment law firm and served as a student attorney for the Unemployment Insurance Clinic. Mackenzy also holds an M.A. in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago, where she worked as a research assistant at the Chicago Survey Lab and interned at The Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
Beyond her legal pursuit, Mackenzy is a passionate advocate for medical cannabis and is an active member of the International Cannabis Bar Association. Outside of work, she likes to take long walks along the Fox River. She lives in the southwest suburbs with her spouse and their cats.
