Maggie Potter brings over 18 years of industry experience in insurance and complex commercial litigation. Her practice is dedicated to insurance defense, with extensive experience in first-party property insurance, including residential, commercial and business interruption, complex commercial claims, coverage analysis, and policy interpretation. In addition to her litigation experience, Maggie serves as monitoring and coordinating counsel for insurers, managing litigation across multiple jurisdictions and ensuring consistency in defense strategies. She is well-versed in handling bad faith matters and has contributed significantly to developing litigation strategies for emerging trends for Florida insurers.
Additionally, her practice includes general negligence and premises liability defense, general civil litigation and policy drafting. Maggie manages claims at all stages, from first notice of loss through trial and regularly advises insurance industry partners on best practices and claims handling.
Maggie utilizes a team-oriented approach in her practice, leading with transparency and divergent thinking to develop a long-term strategy to bring about the best resolution for her clients based on their business goals – whether that means an early, strategic settlement or an aggressive trial defense. Maggie’s experience as a licensed independent insurance adjuster and claims manager deeply informs her practice, underscoring the critical importance of client communication and early case analysis for effective claims management and strategic litigation. Her marketing background, coupled with extensive experience as a Florida litigator, provides her with a holistic perspective on the challenges and complexities of insurance defense and civil litigation. Maggie excels in collaborating with clients to troubleshoot issues and develop innovative solutions that achieve their desired outcomes.
A Florida native, Maggie is a licensed instructor with the state of Florida, providing training and continuing education courses to clients and colleagues. She frequently presents seminars on topics including case law and legislative updates, bad faith, insurance coverage, negotiations and ethics.
Maggie lives in Tampa, Florida, with her husband and three boys. Outside of work, Maggie enjoys live music, great food and living the Florida lifestyle.
