Segal McCambridge Fort Lauderdale Managing Shareholder Ilana B. Olman served as Chair and Coordinator for the Florida Defense Lawyers Association’s (FDLA) annual Florida Insurance Network Symposium (FINS) in Tampa, Florida, August 11-12, 2022.
The symposium focused on trending and emerging topics in the areas involving coverage, bad faith and property insurance with high-level presentations from attorneys and claims professionals.
On August 12, 2022, Segal McCambridge Fort Lauderdale Shareholder Michael F. Barzyk and a panel of engineering experts and industry professionals, Cliff Bishop and David Peraza of Exponent and John Morison of Security First Insurance Company discussed hurricane investigations and the resulting damage to structures.
The seminar titled, “Investigations of Hurricane Damage: Wind vs. Water – Pitfalls & Challenges,” explored current trends in weather activity, insurance coverage defenses to water damage claims and important technical and professional issues related to performing high quality investigations to distinguish between wind and water damage, based on sound technical principles, in an efficient manner.
