Momal Khan concentrates her practice in toxic tort, medical malpractice, professional liability, premises liability, transportation, insurance defense and complex general litigation. With a background in both defense and plaintiff-side practice, clients trust she will bring an advantageous perspective to every case.

Momal is experienced in all stages of litigation. She draws on her background in biology to bridge the gap between medical issues and the legal standard of care. This comprehensive understanding is highlighted in Momal’s proven track record of contesting liability and effectively arguing damages, even in cases where liability appears unfavorable. Whether preparing for trial or negotiating settlements, she aligns her approach with her clients’ legal and business objectives every step of the way.

Prior to joining the firm, Momal worked for a national insurance company where she oversaw medical negligence and professional misconduct lawsuits. In that role, she created litigation strategies, retained and worked with experts, advised executive stakeholders on risk exposure, led mediations and settlement negotiations and helped prepare for trials. Her earlier experience includes roles at a plaintiff-side medical malpractice firm and externships with the Illinois Appellate Court and the Office of the Cook County Public Defender. She has drafted appellate memoranda, argued post-conviction motions and worked on claims involving DCFS proceedings and post-trial relief.

Momal earned her J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, where she served as President of the Health Law Society and the South Asian Law Student Association. She was a Billings, Exum & Frye National Moot Court contestant and focused her coursework on trial advocacy and dispute resolution. She received her B.S. in biology from Roosevelt University.

Momal is passionate about centering her pro bono work to help war refugees and underprivileged children, volunteering her services to organizations in Chicago. She can always be found cooking up a fun recipe or catching the sunrise at Lake Michigan during the summer.
